Best-Advanced Metalworking Tools

For more than 120 years, Dake has been building metalworking tools for everyone in the industry no matter the skill level. Our high-quality products are manufactured with the utmost care and designed to make metalworking easier.

In this post, you will learn about the best-advanced metalworking tools for experts in the field. Bear in mind tips when cutting, carving and welding. For safety tips when working with metalworking tools, click here.

Arbor Presses

In metalworking, an arbor press is a hand-operated machine tool used to change the shape of the metal piece by apply pressure. Experts can use this advanced piece of equipment to rivet or stake a sheet of metal.

Most general arbor presses are rated between 1 and 5 tons with leverage that occurs when force is applied to the arm or wheel. Typically, you can mount this machine on a workbench, pedestal, or the wall. It depends on your work space.

At Dake, we manufacture 17 various arbor presses that span over four categories. These include single lever, racket lever, compound leverage, and air arbor presses.

Our single lever arbor presses have a capacity range from 1 to 3 tons. Our racket lever arbor presses have a pressure range of 3 to 5 tons, and they can stand freely on the floor.

Our compound leverage arbor presses have a staggering pressure range from 6 to 15 tons. Finally, our air arbor presses are the lightweight champions with a pressure capacity between 400 and 2,000 pounds.

Hydraulic Presses

While the hydraulic press is another machine that is used to change the shape of metal, it is different from the arbor press. The hydraulic press can apply a lot more pressure to the metal piece, and you don’t have to use a lever to apply that pressure.

For example, we’ve been building these handy presses since the 1940s, and ours can produce between 10 and 200 tons of pressure.

At Dake, we’ve perfected the hydraulic press. Our selection consists of 40 various hydraulic presses among nine different categories.

These include hand-operated, air-operated, Elec-draulic I, Elec-draulic II, moveable table, utility, manual dura-presses, single-phase dura-presses, and three-phase dura-presses.

Drill Presses

Advanced metalworkers need to be able to perform repetitive tasks quickly. That’s what the drill press is for. This machine tool can efficiently punch holes of varying sizes into metal pieces with little effort.

We offer eight different drill presses in two categories.

  • First are the bench model drill presses. These work at a 5/8-inch capacity and need to be mounted on a workbench or table.

  • The second type is the floor model drill press. These are available in 5/8-inch, 1-inch, and 1-1/4-inch capacities. Both the bench and floor models can be used with vises to hold large or heavy pieces of metal in place during the drilling process. This is a safer way to use the drill press, and it frees up your hands to do other networking tasks.

Bandsaws

A bandsaw is a powered metalworking machine tool that experts use to pieces of metal. This is not the same as a handsaw or a chainsaw. This machine uses a toothed blade to slice through metal like a hot knife through butter.

At Dake, we offer two types of bandsaws: vertical and horizontal.

Horizontal bandsaws use a lot of power to cut through the hardest metals. They can be used to create large pieces. On the other hand, the vertical bandsaw is less powerful and can only cut through soft, pliable metals. It can also only be used to cut smaller pieces, and it is the only efficient way to slice curves into metal.

One more main difference between the two is that horizontal bandsaws send the blade through the material, but vertical bandsaws pull the material through the blade.

You will most likely see vertical bandsaws in personal workshops and small business, and horizontal bandsaws are typically used as industrial pieces of machinery. However, both can be taken advantage of by experts whether you do metalworking as a hobby or as a business.

Inside our product catalog, you will find six vertical bandsaws across four categories and nine horizontal bandsaws across four categories. The vertical options include the 14-10 Series, Industrial, Trademaster, and Work-A-Matic. The horizontal options include the benchtop, standard-duty, heavy-duty, and mitering.

Keep in mind that horizontal bandsaw requires a workbench that is stable enough to withstand the weight of this power tool. At Dake, we offer a portable work stand that is perfect for benchtop bandsaws.

Constructed out of heavy steel tubing, this lightweight stand can hold up to 110 pounds and can be easily moved around your workspace as needed. When you don’t need to use it, you can fold it flat and stash it out of the way until your next project.

Belt Grinder

In order to create a smooth, shiny surface, expert metalworkers use a belt grinder. Our Model G-75 operates with a 4 HP motor that generates a 6,600 fpm grinding speed.

As a handheld power tool, the head of the device pivots up and down smoothly, and you can open the hinged top cover to smooth our larger pieces of material. This handy tool will leave you with a gleaming finished product.

Wrapping Up Advanced Metalworking Tools for Experts

There are many different tools required for metalworking. As you progress on your journey learning this art, you will slowly start to realize that many of the hand tools can be replaced by easy-to-use powered machine tools.

Metalworking experts love to use these advanced tools to make their job easier and faster. Complete new projects at efficiently. Experts utilize various presses, bandsaws, and belt grinders to create large scale products or intricate designs.
