Presses And Their 'Pressure Points'

Presses are versatile, handy machines that can simplify a variety of applications in the shop, but what are the key points for which you should own one of these? And when does this pressure maximize its use? Read on to discover a few of many reasons to add these beasts to your arsenal.

Versatility by design.

Vertical H-frame style, C-frame, Horizontal, Movable table, Tire press, Movable frame, Lab presses, with single and double acting workhead models and manual, air or electric versions.

Smooth Move.

Hydraulics gives you even smooth pressure throughout the ram stroke. Tonnage can be achieved at any point of the ram’s travel. Unlike mechanical presses where you only get the tonnage is at the bottom of the stroke.

Got the feel.

Arbor presses are great when the application requires “feel” for manually pressing items at lower pressures and parts that are not high production. Hydraulic presses however are designed for the real tough jobs, for higher production, high tonnage and variable controls making short work for your pressing needs.

Control yourself.

Pressure control. Many hydraulic presses have pressure relief valves available. You can dial in whatever pressure you require, and the press will repeat that preset pressure consistently. Takes the guess work out of the equation of too much or too little pressure each time.

Up and down.

Many presses feature double acting cylinders which means you have lifting force as well as pressing forces. Any tooling attached to the ram can easily be raised with double acting cylinder.

There’s an application for that.

Hydraulic presses are quite easy to adapt to your applications. Traversing workheads, pressure control, nose pieces, dual palm buttons, daylight modifications, etc. Let us know your needs and we most likely done it before and have an app for that.

Simplistic.

Hydraulic presses are simple in design easy to operate and when used and maintained properly will last for many years of trouble-free operation, for a wide range of applications. Since there are so few moving parts, upkeep is minimal.

The choice is yours.

Whatever type of press you choose, electric powered pump, air powered or manual operation    the tonnage in the end will be same no matter how you operate it. Electric and air operated will certainly make getting up to tonnage faster and easier, but manual operation will yield the same end results.

No experience needed.

Choosing the right machine can sometimes be a daunting task but knowing three things can make selecting your hydraulic press easier. Size- Pressure-Speed. Size is the largest part you will be using the press on, which will dictate the press opening. Pressure is how much pressure is required for your operation. (Always increase required tonnage, for safety and long press life) Speed is how often you will be cycling the press for your application. (Parts per hour, etc.) if you can supply us with answers to these three questions, we have the experience to help you choose the right machine.

May the force be with you.

Dake offers many different tonnages that create the force you need. 10 tons to 200 tons in our standard offering with higher tonnage models available.
